Today we are going to discuss the best crypto games right now! The excitement around crypto games has skyrocketed in the last few years. After the CryptoKitties craze, numerous other crypto games have emerged, such as Etheremon and Etherbots. Some of them promise to revolutionize the concept of our game, and we could indeed be at the cusp of something big.
One thing is sure: the crypto world has been flooded with games. In this article, we will introduce you to a few of them and present our opinion on their future.
Best Crypto Games Right Now
Crystal Warriors – The Hex Battles
One of the most popular crypto games is Crystal Warriors. The title was launched in 2019, but a rebooted version was released recently. In this game, players assume the role of a wizard who can summon monsters and cast spells. The game already boasts hundreds of different units, each featuring original artwork.
The game was recently rebooted after the developers decided to change the gameplay entirely. The new version resembles other turn-based strategy games where players have an action bar. Each time it’s filled, they can perform one action (summoning units requires mana). Although this limits your tactical options in comparison with the original version, it feels more dynamic. Moreover, battles are fought on hexagonal grids rather than square ones, which provides greater strategic depth. It remains to be seen whether Crystal Warriors will become popular again, but we like what we’ve seen so far.
CryptoBots – Collectible robots
CryptoBots is an excellent game in its own right. Released in late 2017, it’s somewhat of a mix between Etheremon and CryptoKitties. Players can buy bots to add to their collections which they can then battle with other players. If you win a fight, your opponent has to sell one of their bots at a lower price. You will also earn XP points for your collection, which you can use to upgrade your bots and gain additional abilities when fighting them. We like this game because it doesn’t require any Ether transactions from its users except to buy new bots (which are sold in the form of non-fungible tokens). In addition, it’s possible to sell your collection at any time.

Etheremon – Collect & battle
Probably the most popular crypto game to date is Etheremon. Players can explore its virtual world and capture monsters known as Mons. They can then train them to make them stronger or put them in a gym for other players to fight. You can also sell your Mons when you’re tired of the game or need some Ether for other purposes. Mon battles occur in areas that require energy points to enter (the number of energy points depends on the level of the arena). The more powerful your monster, the more difficult it becomes to win a fight.
Etheremon has recently announced its partnership with Decentraland, so it will be interesting to see what comes of this collaboration. Nevertheless, Etheremon is one of the crypto games that have established themselves as a leader in their segment.
Other bots – Building & battling
Other bots is a crypto game that was released shortly after CryptoBots. Players can buy bots and upgrade them using parts bought from other players on the marketplace. They can even sell their bots for better versions. Other bots are currently holding a contest for players to create their own parts so if you have some creativity, this might be your chance to try it out! As you may have guessed, battles occur in hexagonal arenas where players try to make the most damage possible within a given time limit.
SpectivVR – Streaming VR games
SpectivVR is an exciting project which allows users to stream crypto games using virtual reality headsets. Players who visit the website can watch live streams of other players battling against monsters or exploring new locations. Spectiv will share part of its revenue with content creators, so if you’re looking for ways to earn money through your hobby, give it a try! Virtual Reality streaming hasn’t really taken off yet, but it seems like there’s plenty of potential in the future. What do you think? Would watching someone else play a game on Twitch appeal to you?
CryptoCities – Collectible cities
Another game that lets you buy unique assets is CryptoCities. Players can purchase different city cards, which are divided into four types: metropolis, kingdom, empire, and colony. The rarer a city card becomes, the higher its price. We also like this game because it’s one of the projects involved in the Blockchain Game Fund which invests in promising crypto games and shares part of its profits with players. If you’re looking for an easy way to increase your assets without doing much work, go check it out!
CryptoKitties – Breedable cats
And we finally come to CryptoKitties, probably the most famous cryptogame at this point. Players can buy and sell unique kitties, breed them and collect their offspring, which can then be sold if they’re lucky enough. The most valuable cats are the “Mythicals,” which were only available on special occasions. CryptoKitties had a massive peak in December 2017 when its daily trading volume reached $6 million or so – at one point, more than 1 out of 10 Ethereum transactions taking place were related to this game!
Despite all this popularity, there have been some concerns regarding CryptoKitties. Its breeding mechanics rely on smart contracts that allow players to breed two kitties together and receive a new one shortly after. However, some issues came up:
CryptoKitties can fool players into believing that they’ve gained access to new kitties when in fact, the smart contract is simply repeating the same process over and over.
Although this hasn’t happened yet, it’s probably only a matter of time until scammers start using this exploit to profit from unsuspecting users. The team behind CryptoKitties has already implemented some changes in their latest update so let’s wait and see how it goes!
There are many new and exciting crypto games coming out over the next couple of years. If you’re looking for some fun, we’ve got a list of our top picks that will be available soon!
